The Building Department and License Department are located in City Hall at 600 N. Montgomery Avenue, Sheffield, Alabama on the main floor. Hours of operation are 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday. When is a permit required?
Any job over $500.00 requires a permit.
How much will a permit cost?
Each permit is calculated based on the cost of materials and labor required to complete the job.
Should my contractor have a license with the City of Sheffield?
Yes, each contractor and subcontractor working in the City of Sheffield should have a license and proof of at least $300,000 general liability insurance.
