Sheffield City Government
The city of Sheffield has
a mayor-council form of government involving a mayor and five
council members. The mayor is elected at large with the council
members elected from their respective districts. Elections are
held every four years and terms are not staggered, meaning the
possibility exists for the city of Sheffield to have a completely
new governing body after an election.

City Hall is located at 600
North Montgomery Avenue and houses the following offices: Mayor's
office, City Clerk's office, Building and License Department,
Court Clerk and City Court, as well as the Sheffield Police Department.
City Hall office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30
PM. City Council meetings are held in the city court room each
month on the first and third Mondays. Work sessions begin at 5:00
PM with the council meeting starting at 6:00 PM. The public is
welcome at all city council meetings.
